AI resume writer: tailor the resume to a job description

Send Claude Code your old resume and the target JD. It rewrites experience and keywords to match the JD and exports a tailored resume. If you say “do not invent”, it will not add experience or numbers. Gaps are marked [TO ADD].

Set up once: point the global config at AICodeWith

1. Install Claude Code
Follow the official Claude Code install docs. You are done when claude --version prints a version number.
2. Create a key and edit the global config
Sign in, open the dashboard **Key Management** page, and create a key. If you are not sure where that is, see Get an API key.
Open the global config ~/.claude/settings.json and set the Base URL and key under env:

Do not add /v1 at the end of the Base URL. Reopen the terminal, run claude, and a normal reply means the connection works.

Tested steps

1. Prepare the resume and JD
Save the old resume as resume.md and the target JD as jd.md in the same folder.

2. One command to tailor the resume

In that folder run:

The terminal may print an English notice about auto mode and api.aicodewith.ai. You can ignore it; it does not affect the result.

3. Fill in every [TO ADD]
Open resume_custom.md and replace each [TO ADD] with real experience, or delete the line if you never did it.
Output is Markdown. For Word or PDF, paste it into your usual resume template.

Troubleshooting

The rewrite includes experience I never had: Delete it and keep “do not invent experience or numbers” in the command. It did not invent any in our run.
401 or request failed: Check that the key is complete and the Base URL is https://api.aicodewith.ai (no /v1). Reopen the terminal after you change it.

FAQ

Will an AI resume writer invent experience?

Tell it not to invent. In our run missing facts were marked [TO ADD], not stated as fact. Still check every line before you apply.

Can it export Word directly?

This page tested Markdown output. We did not test Word export.

What about a different role?
