AI slides: one prompt, an editable .pptx

Point the global config at aicodewith, install the pptx skill in Claude Code, and describe a topic to get a PowerPoint file you can keep editing. The output is a real .pptx — text and layout stay editable in PowerPoint or WPS, not a picture.

  • ✓One prompt produced a 6-slide editable .pptx (clean-environment run on 2026-10-15)
  • ✓A follow-up to split a slide and add speaker notes produced a 7-slide version with notes on every slide
  • ✓About 5 minutes from Claude Code installed to a finished file (excluding sign-up)

Set up once: point the global config at AICodeWith

Do this once; every use case reuses it. Other tools: integration guides. Where to get a key: Get an API key.

  1. 1. Install Claude Code

    Follow the official Claude Code install docs. You are done when claude --version prints a version number.

  2. 2. Create a key and edit the global config

    Sign in, open the dashboard **Key Management** page, and create a key. If you are not sure where that is, see Get an API key.

    Open the global config ~/.claude/settings.json and set the Base URL and key under env:

    ~/.claude/settings.json
    {
      "env": {
        "ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL": "https://api.aicodewith.ai",
        "ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN": "sk-YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }

    Do not add /v1 at the end of the Base URL. Reopen the terminal, run claude, and a normal reply means the connection works.
  3. 3. Install the pptx skill

    Run these two commands to install Anthropic’s official document-skills pack (pptx, plus docx, xlsx, and pdf):

    bash
    claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills
    claude plugin install document-skills@anthropic-agent-skills

    You need Node.js and Python 3 locally. To preview slides as images, also install LibreOffice.

Tested steps

  1. 1. Generate the deck in one sentence

    Create an empty folder, run claude inside it, and specify the topic, slide count, audience, and style:

    text
    Use the pptx skill to make an 8-slide deck titled “2026 Q3 product review” for company leadership. Include: cover, agenda, key metrics, three highlights, two issues, next-quarter plan, summary. Clean business look, deep blue palette, no more than 5 bullets per slide. Save as q3-review.pptx.

    Swap in your own topic, slide count, and audience. The more specific you are, the closer the first draft is.
  2. 2. Keep talking to edit

    Do not regenerate from scratch. In the same session say: “slide 3 is too dense, split it into two”, “add ~100-word speaker notes on every slide”, “switch to the company brand color.”

    Change one or two things at a time and name the slide and the desired result.

Troubleshooting

It cannot find an npm package or a python command
This happened in our run; Claude Code found another way. You can also install Node.js and Python 3 first.
Preview images will not open
Install LibreOffice and ask it to “export each slide as an image”, or open the .pptx in PowerPoint / WPS.
401 or request failed
Check that the key is complete and the Base URL is https://api.aicodewith.ai (no /v1). Reopen the terminal after you change it.

FAQ

Can I edit an AI-generated deck?

Yes. It is a standard .pptx. Text, shapes, and layout edit directly in PowerPoint or WPS.

Can it use a company template?

The pptx skill’s SKILL.md says it can generate from template.pptx. We have not tested that step.

How long does one deck take?

A 6-slide first draft took under 3 minutes. More slides and tighter constraints take longer.
